Welcome to the blog and news feed!

Welcome to the ZHPics blog. Hopefully, by now, you have had a chance to look through my site. This blog is going to be a large part of this site. It will serve as a news feed for my photography business and personal adventures, but I have so much more planned for this blog! Here a few things that I have planned:

Photo sharing

Photographs are meant to be shared. With this blog, I want to share special pictures of family, friends, and clients. One day, it may be a picture of my beautiful daughter (I apologize in advance, because that will happen a lot). The next shared image may be of a particularly beautiful sunset. I enjoy taking pictures and enjoy sharing them even more!

Social hub

I want this blog site to serve as the hub for all of my social media services and sites, allowing me to share the latest news or photos. Like or follow Zachary Hazelwood Photography on your preferred social media platform to stay up on the latest news! You can use the social media buttons at the bottom of any site page to be redirected to my social pages.

Announcements and deals

Everyone always enjoys a good deal, so I will from time to time announce special session rates or discount codes for photo prints.

Photography skills and fundamentals

I am always reading some article or watching a video about photography. I want to a be a lifelong learner, so my goal is to always find something that peaks my interest and helps me grow. From time to time, I will be writing articles or making videos to share skills or photography fundamentals that I have learned. When I come across someone else's article or video that is particularly interesting or helpful to me, I will certainly share that knowledge with you here as well.

I have a few topic areas planned to be dedicated to learning about photography:

Photography fundamentals

This topic will be dedicated to building an understanding of how light, photography, and gear work. The posts here will be more theoretical or knowledge-based to give you a foundation for building the skills necessary to capture better photos.

Photography skills

Besides having a good grasp of foundational concepts, it is important to understand how to make use of that knowledge in your everyday experience of photography. These posts will help you put the theory to practice with many tips and tricks!

Photo editing

The photo doesn't have to end with the release of the shutter button. A little post work can go a long ways to making a photo pop. I'll be posting about everything from simple exposure, tone, and color adjustments to more advanced image compositing, retouching, and restoration using a variety of hardware and software solutions.

Smartphone photography

They say that the best camera is the one that you have with you. Well, there aren't many places that I go that I am not carrying my smartphone. I love taking photos with my pro DSLR, but it isn't always the most convenient device to carry around with me, especially if you consider all of the lenses and equipment necessary to get the shot. I'll be posting tips and tricks here to get the most out of your smartphone camera.

It doesn't matter whether you are just starting in photography or a seasoned pro, there is always something to learn. The more I learn, the more I realize that there is something out there that I don't know. I like challenging myself and learning from the work of others, and I hope you will find this blog useful.

Photo-Shoptalk (yes, the pun on the name is intended)

This general blog is intended to create some conversation. Perhaps I'll post an image for you to comment on. Maybe it will be a survey for you to give your feedback on a topic of interest. Or, it might just be a photography challenge for you to post your on photography attempts.

Photography fun and more

Keep an eye out for all of the great things to come. There will be something here for you to enjoy. If you have any ideas, please let me know what you have in mind. Leave a comment here or send me a message. I'd love to hear what you have to say!
